On with the show: Several events remain this month at Williamsport Community Arts Center

Though the month is almost over, there remain a number of performances at the Community Arts Center varying in content to offer a little something for everyone.

The shows include Ailey II, a modern dance performance on Tuesday; Home Free, an a cappella country music group on Thursday, Oct. 27; and Whose Live Anyway?, a sketch/improv comedy on Friday, Oct. 28.

There also will be a free event held this Sunday where local veterans and their families share stories of their lives before, during and after combat.

Ailey II will take the stage Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. with a live dance performance.

The dance group, founded by Alvin Ailey, is one of the most popular modern dance companies in the nation.

“If you have any inkling to see live dance, I suggest coming. It’s a beautiful performance, it will be a wonderful night,” said Steven Ault, marketing manager at the Community Arts Center.

“Ailey II is universally renowned for merging the spirit and energy of the country’s finest early-career dance talent with the passion and creative vision of today’s most outstanding emerging choreographers,” according to center’s website.

A performance by Home Free will follow on Oct. 27, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

“Home Free have made their mark on the music scene, racking up nearly 600,000 album equivalents globally; embarking on major international tours; amassing 500-plus million views and over 1.3 million subscribers on YouTube; and being declared ‘country music fans’ favorite a cappella group,'” according to the CAC’s website.

The band will bring new music from its latest recording project.

Whose Live Anyway? Will take the stage on Friday, Oct. 28 at 7:30 p.m.

“The rapid-fire wit and non-stop jokes will have your sides splitting and begging for mercy … and also begging for more. The Touhill will welcome Ryan Stiles and Greg Proops, both seen on ABC’s ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway?,’ as well as Jeff B. Davis and Joel Murray,” according to the CAC website.

“This particular style of improvisational comedy is rife with countless gags, one-liners, hilarious games and even songs so good you will hardly believe they were made up on the spot.”

A number of performances will follow in November, including Disney Jr. Live, Paragon Ragtime Orchestra, MercyMe, the educational Full Steam Ahead: Air is Everywhere and more.
