Williamsport City Jazz Orchestra presents holiday concert Tuesday at Community Theatre League in downtown Williamsport
The Williamsport City Jazz Orchestra presents its annual Holiday Jazz concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, at the Community Theatre League.
The concert will include jazz arrangements of holiday classics such as “We Three Kings,” “Sleigh Ride” and “Deck the Halls.” The orchestra will also feature vocalist Suezie Cioffi singing many holiday favorites.
This annual concert has been popular since the orchestra’s early days and often sells out in advance, according to a press release announcing the show.
Tickets are $20 and are available at www.ctlshows.com or through the Community Theatre League’s box office, which can be reached at 570-327-1777 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Founded in 2011, the Williamsport City Jazz Orchestra plays popular, familiar, obscure, sentimental and exciting big band jazz tunes, the release said.
Members include alumni of the Glenn Miller Big Band, the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra, the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, the Buddy Rich Band and many other famous jazz bands.
The orchestra celebrates Jazz Appreciation Month in April with concerts featuring guest artists and jazz education workshops for area students, and also performs several other concerts throughout the year.
