Noted illustrator Nick Ring to present at March Bald Eagle Art League meeting

The Bald Eagle Art League will welcome noted comic and commercial illustrator Chris Ring as its guest speaker during its next meeting, slated for 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 2, at the Thomas T. Taber Museum, 858 W. Fourth St.

Ring has been a commercial illustrator for over 25 years. He got his start in comics writing and illustrating the “CarbonKnight” mini-series at Lunar Studios. He has worked on many projects for PMK’s Imagination, including Edgar Allan Poe’s “Nevermore” and “The Perfect Victim.”

“I will be discussing my career as an illustrator, the tools I use and how the industry has changed. Attendees will get a sneak peek at my latest project, ‘Allan Quatermain and the Tomb of Hephaestus,’ and the stages it takes to go from script to completed page,” Ring said.

Ring has illustrated two Star Wars card series and numerous independent comics for a variety of publishers. He got his start illustrating children’s books, including “The Scariest Creature,” which led to his current series, “Seamus (the Famous).”

In “Seamus,” Ring has combined the fast-paced comedic timing of sequential art with the charm and wonder of children’s books. He has two “Seamus” graphic novels out: “Seamus (the Famous) — The Treasure of Gunnar Forkbeard” and “Seamus (the Famous) — The Eternity Run.”

The meeting is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.

Starting at $2.99/week.
