‘Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man’: Grandkids of beloved country duo Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty to perform tribute on Friday at

A performance will pay tribute to the famed Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty this Friday, May 26, at the Sullivan County fairgrounds, 4430 Route 154, Forksville.

The performers, Tayla Lynn and Tre Twitty, are the grandchildren of the classic country duo.

“They are touring the U.S. singing songs of their grandparents and storytelling,” said Bonnie Houck,

of the Sullivan County Kiwanis. “They sing and act like their grandparents. It’s an awesome show.”

“Along with stories behind the songs, Tayla will bring on the laughs and sometimes the tears with her stories about traveling on the road with her Memaw, and how Loretta was inspired to pencil those words from her heart onto a yellow legal pad and spin them into country gold. Tre Twitty is Conway’s grandson and with his smooth style and delivery you’ll feel that his Poppy is right back on that stage,” according to a press release announcing the event.

The night will begin at 4:30 p.m. with music by DJ AM Flashback followed by Patsy Cline favorites performed by Heather Olsen at 6:30 p.m.

The main performance will begin around 7:30 p.m.

The event will have food from various vendors and a chance to win a raffle basket.

“My goal is to bring music back to Sullivan County,” Houck said. “We need entertainment since COVID, so I’d like to just get (people) out and about and enjoy entertainment again.”

Sullivan County Kiwanis is currently raising money for many causes.

“All the money raised will stay in the community, the area children in the local communities,” Houck said. “We do two scholarships to high school seniors; sandbags for the Head Start; we supply Head Start students with boots, hats and mittens; we support the library reading summer program; youth basketball — there’s just so much that we sponsor, I don’t think the community really knows all that,” she added.

Parking at the event is free.
