Sculpture, photography exhibit to open at Lycoming Arts Gallery in downtown Williamsport

Artist Lorena Beniquez will exhibit wire sculpture and photography at Lycoming Arts Gallery at 46 W. Fourth Street in Williamsport. Titled “Metalphor,” the solo show will include pieces made of metal and photographs of metal objects. The show kicks off Friday, May 5 with an artist’s reception from 5 – 7 p.m. and will then be on display throughout the month.

According to a news release, Beniquez is a multidisciplinary artist who is an author, photographer, sculptor and commercial director. Currently, she is the managing editor of the Williamsport Sun-Gazette’s magazines, which include West Branch Life, HUNT and RIDE. In addition, Beniquez works on commissioned pieces.

Beniquez’s work has included the book “Lost Coal Country of Northeastern Pennsylvania,” and exhibitions throughout North Central and Northeastern Pennsylvania.

“Metalphor’s” debut will coincide with Williamsport’s First Friday and Cinco de Mayo, which will make for a lively downtown.

The exhibition is free and open to the public.
