Williamsport Music Club’s annual Sacred Music Program returns Tuesday to Faxon-Kenmar United Methodist Church

The Williamsport Music Club will again showcase its annual Sacred Music Program at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, at Faxon-Kenmar United Methodist Church, 1301 Clayton Ave.

Starting with opening remarks by club President Katharine Cimini, the audience then will be asked to participate in a reading of “The Federation Collection,” a prayer written for the National Federation of Music Clubs by Mae Bell Cole in 1929.

Pieces played throughout the program will include Gordon Young’s “Passacaglia” on the organ; Scott Schell’s original song, “The Walls of Sin Go Tumbling”; Handel’s “Joy to the World”; Bach’s “Air on the G String”; Schubert’s “Ave Maria”; Vivaldi’s “Concerto in A Minor for 2 Violins” and many more.

The club’s Ensemble and Friends will perform Spafford’s “It Is Well Within My Soul” and Tommy Dorsey’s “Previous Lord, Take My Hand,” arranged by Jack Schrader and accompanied by David Koskey on piano. A quartet comprising soprano Leatha Kieser, alto Cimini, tenor Ryan Workman and bass Charles Getchell will sing Mozart’s “Ave Verum Corpus,” accompanied by Carol Waltz on organ.
