Williamsport Symphony Orchestra to host evening of dance-inspired classics
Under the baton of Maestro Gerardo Edelstein, the Williamsport Symphony Orchestra will present “Rhythms of Dance” at 7:30 p.m. March 18 at the Community Arts Center, 220 West Fourth Street, a press release said.
The vibrant concert will feature an array of dance-inspired classics, including the fiery “Malambo” by Alberto Ginastera, the lively “Hungarian Dances Nos. 5 & 6” by Johannes Brahms, and the dramatic “Boléro” by Maurice Ravel, among others. A highlight of the evening will be special performances by lead dancer Olivia Swink and her team from LKW Dance Center.
Joining the evening will be Richard Qian, winner of the WSO’s 2025 Young Artists Competition. A 14-year-old pianist, Qian won the 2023 Pennsylvania MTNA Junior Piano Competition and received awards at the 2024 Marian Garcia High School Concerto Competition. Qian, who began playing piano at the age of 7 and has already performed at prestigious venues like Carnegie Hall, continues to study under Dr. Charisse Baldoria.
“His youthful passion and exceptional skill promise to add a thrilling dimension to the evening’s performances,” the press release said.
