CTL to present ‘Jekyll & Hyde, The Musical’ this month

The Community Theatre League will invite audiences to step behind the façade and into the shadows of Victorian London, when it presents “Jekyll & Hyde, The Musical” on Oct. 10-12, 16-19, a press release said.
“(The show) is a soaring gothic pop-rock score that navigates themes of love, ambition, and morality, raising the inevitable question: Can anyone truly control the darkness that resides inside?” the press release said.
Based on Robert Louis Stevenson’s chilling classic, this evocative tale follows Dr. Henry Jekyll, a devoted man of science. Jekyll is unrelenting in his desperate pursuit to solve the ills of humanity, no matter the cost: colleagues, friends, even his betrothed. But when he is stifled by the cautious oversight of bureaucracy, he takes matters into his own hands, unleashing Edward Hyde, a terrifying alter ego who prowls the streets filled with lust for pleasures of the flesh, revenge, and blood. Torn between two worlds, Jekyll must face the truth that every man wears both light and darkness inside.
Featuring a soaring, emotionally charged score with iconic numbers like “Façade,” “This Is the Moment,” “In His Eyes,” and “Murder, Murder,” the show explores the duality of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and the complex dynamics it creates in his relationships. From intimate ballads to explosive company numbers, the music drives home the tension and stakes of a man wrestling with his own hidden darkness.
“Jekyll & Hyde is a show that feels tailor-made for October,” said Seth Sponhouse, CTL’s executive artistic director. “It’s dark, it’s romantic, it’s terrifying, and it’s thrilling, all at once. Our audiences can expect an edge-of-your-seat experience that leans into this season of shadows and mystery.”
Directed by Ellen Boyer, CTL’s production features a 20-plus-member ensemble of local talent whose powerful harmonies and dynamic stage presence give the story its pulse. From intimate ballads to thunderous company numbers, the cast embodies the show’s central truth: behind every polished exterior, shadows wait to be revealed.
The main cast includes: Nate Fulkerson (Dr. Jekyll / Mr. Hyde), Hannah McBride (Emma Carew), Brandy Aguirre (Lucy Harris), Tim Hippensteel (Mr. John Utterson), Lonnie Bickel (Sir Danvers Carew), Jordan Scott Marlof (Simon Stride), Lesley Shuman (Lady Savage), Laura Ulrich (Lady Beaconsfield), Connor Hill (General Lord Glossop), Ryan Lannan (Sir Archibald Proops), Mark Patrick (The Bishop of Basingstoke), Christen Buck (Nellie), Stefan Eisenhower (The Spider) and Wendy Durant (Ms. Poole). Ensemble members include: Collin Santore, Samuel Keebler, Kevin Mowrey, Bryan Wolfe, Emily Ayn Bowen, Elaina Bartley, Rosemary Lomison, Nancy Reiff, Grey Jenkins, Theo Light and Hannah Marie Swanson.
As the story unfolds, secrets are exposed, loyalties are tested, and the very nature of humanity is called into question. Love, obsession, and vengeance collide in a gripping narrative that forces Jekyll (and the audience) to confront what lies within. Each encounter with Hyde escalates the tension, pushing the line between morality and desire to its breaking point, keeping audiences riveted until the final note.
“Will Jekyll’s love be enough to silence Hyde’s murderous rage, or will the darkness within finally take control? The answers await in a thrilling, unforgettable performance,” the press release said.
