‘Christmas at the Organ’ concert to be held Sunday

According to a press release, a “Christmas at the Organ” concert will be presented by area members of The American Guild of Organists at 3 p.m. Sunday at Covenant Central Presbyterian Church, 807 West Fourth Street.

Organists are selecting their favorite music for the Christmas season. Included will be music using carols in many styles. Leatha Kieser is Dean of the Williamsport AGO Chapter. Also appearing will be Dr. Marcus Krieger of Susquehanna University, Donna and Kenneth Elkin, Carol Waltz, and Jonathan Moser. Music will range from a newly discovered Bach work to an improvisation on “Joy to the World” first done at Longwood Gardens.

The concert is the final in a year-long celebration of the mighty Schantz Pipe Organ installed 30 years ago at Covenant Central Presbyterian Church.

The concert is free and the public is encouraged to attend.
