‘The Pavilion’ takes the stage at Lycoming
According to a press release, the Lycoming College theatre department will continue its 2025-2026 season with “The Pavilion” by Craig Wright. The show runs Feb. 25-28 at the Mary L. Welch Theatre on the Lycoming College campus, with all shows beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Directed by Matt Ripa, visiting assistant professor of theatre at Lycoming College, “The Pavilion” is a funny and heartfelt play about life, love, and second chances. At their 20-year high school reunion, Peter hopes to rekindle a lost romance with Kari, the girl he left behind. But old wounds, unresolved regrets, and the years between them stand in the way. With time catching up and a Narrator guiding the way, this poetic story explores how we grow, what we leave behind, and whether it’s ever too late to begin again.
The Lycoming students cast in the production include Chayton Wesneski (Peter), Paige McCaffrey (Kari) and Olivia Weaver (narrator).
“For me, ‘The Pavilion’ is about memory and inevitability of life. It’s about the things we can’t change and the ways we try to make sense of time,” said Ripa. “I love the poignancy of setting the play at a high school reunion, an event that marks that passage of time and is filled with looking back and looking forward at the same time. I also find the play deeply funny and the characters to be very human.”
Tickets, including tickets for Lycoming students, faculty and staff, are complimentary and can be reserved through lycoming.edu/theatre/schedule.aspx ahead of time or at the box office on the night of each performance.
