Contemporary cirque ensemble to perform at Weis Center next month

LEWISBURG — The Weis Center for the Performing Arts at Bucknell University will welcome contemporary cirque ensemble Circa at 7:30 p.m. April 9, according to a press release.

When at the Weis Center, they will present “Humans 2.0.” A symphony of acrobatics, sound and light, this is next level circus by Circa. The work was created by Yaron Lifschitz and the Circa Ensemble.

The performance is 70 minutes, without an intermission.

Since 2004, Circa has been at the frontier of a new vision of the circus arts — creating powerful works that challenge, thrill and delight. Featuring an ensemble of multi-skilled artists under the direction of Yaron Lifschitz, Circa’s award-winning works have been seen in 39 countries across six continents.

Ten bodies appear in a flash of light. They move in harmony for a fleeting moment and then descend into a sinuous trance. Towers grow and decay, bodies leap and are caught, as physical limits are pushed to their extreme. Can we ever find a perfect balance or is adapting to constant change the only way forward?

This next chapter of Circa’s internationally acclaimed “Humans” is a tightly woven choreography of bodies, pulsing with music by composer Ori Lichtik and revealed in Paul Jackson’s dramatic lighting. Created by circus visionary Yaron Lifschitz, “Humans 2.0” is intimate, primal and deeply engaged with the challenge of being human.

Tickets can be reserved by calling 570-577-1000 or online at Bucknell.edu/BoxOffice. They are also available in person from several locations including the Weis Center lobby and the CAP Center Box Office, located on the ground floor of the Elaine Langone Center.

Starting at $2.99/week.
