SUNBURY -- According to a press release, the Susquehanna Valley Chorale will kick off its new season with "Spooky Spectacular" at 3 p.m. on Oct. 25 at Zion Lutheran Church under the direction of new conductor and music director Caleb Hopkins.

The presentation will feature frightfully entertaining works from Bach, Mendelssohn and Mozart.

"I am excited to bring this ambitious and varied program to our audience in October," Hopkins said. "Pieces both familiar and rarely performed are sure to bring spooky thrills to listeners of all ages."

The concert will feature four soloists from the Chorale and the women of the SVC will also be featured in one piece.

The SVC will be accompanied by a full orchestra, who will showcase a piece of their own, and an organ solo by Jonathan Moser, Director of Music at Zion Lutheran Church.

The following works will be performed: Bach's "Toccata and Fugue in D minor," Mäntyjärvi's "Double, Double, Toil and Trouble," Grieg's "In the Hall of the Mountain King" from "Peer Gynt," Mendelssohn's "Hexenlied," Mozart's "Lacrimosa" from "Requiem," and Mendelssohn's "Die erste Walpurgisnacht."

Guests are encouraged to come in costume, adults and kids alike, and are invited to join members of the Chorale for a reception downstairs following the performance.
