Music club hosts sacred music program

The Williamsport Music Club presents a program titled “ Fill Our Hearts with Sacred Music” at 7 p.m., Jan. 25 at Faxon-Kenmore United Methodist Church, 1301 Clayton Ave. According to a news release, Kathy Cimini and Janet Hurlbert chair the program. The program opens with “Prelude in Classic Style” by Gordon Young and played by David Koskey on the organ. Two piano/organ duets will be included. The Uptown Music Collective, the area’s premier nonprofit school of music, returns to the Community Arts Center in Williamsport for a one-night-only, in-person fundraising event with a tribute to ’80s hard rock bands. The students of the UMC will present “Nothin’ but a Good Time: Revenge of the ‘80s Hair Bands” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at the CAC, 220 W. Even excluding all the shows produced by area high schools as part of the Ray of Light competition, my list of the most notable, nifty and nicely staged plays and musicals of the past year often totaled a dozen or sometimes even a Baker’s Dozen. Downtown show looks for volunteers

Colin Mochrie, the star of the long-running “Whose Line Is It, Anyway?” joins forces with Master Hypnotist Asad Mecci, for the return of their hit show HYPROV: Improv Under Hypnosis. The live show, which according to a news release combines hypnosis and improv for a unique comedy experience, played 43 cities to multiple sold-out crowds throughout North America prior to being put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
