Couple marries in Athens

CARMEN DUTRA and DALE UPRIGHT

A beautiful boho wedding took place on the bride’s birthday when Carmen Alexandra Dutra and Dale Everett Upright pledged their love and lives to one another at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2021.

They were married by the Rev. Chris Gray at Greater Valley Assembly of God, Athens, Pennsylvania, where a reception was also held.

The bride is the daughter of Julie and Elliot Dutra, Sayre. She graduated from Sayre High School in 2015 and is employed by Instacart.

Upright is the son of Mark and Sharon Upright, of Montoursville. He graduated from Pennsylvania Homeschoolers Accreditation Agency in 2009 and attended Mansfield University. He is employed by EDC Management Inc., Corning, New York, as a maintenance technician.

The bride was escorted to the altar by both of her parents. Her sister, Maia Dutra, Sayre, provided the processional music on her saxophone. During the ceremony, the couple performed a “Cord of Three Strands” symbolic braiding to demonstrate the need for Jesus Christ in their marriage.

Flower girl was Ariyah Dutra, Van Etten, New York, cousin of the bride. She scattered red rose petals and heartfelt joy down the aisle.

Ring bearers were Evan Dutra, Van Etten, New York, cousin of the bride and Oliver Allen, son of the bride. Both wore gray dinosaur bow ties.

The three-some are residing in Elkland.
