WILLIAMSPORT-All year long American Rescue Workers works to provide the spirit of love, hope and grace to those experiencing hunger and homelessness. During the holiday season it is of the utmost importance to also spread Christmas cheer to those in their care.

“Financial resources are always tight at American Rescue Workers, and like many families, resources become especially tight during the holidays. This year thanks to a generous contribution from Don Lundy, President of Lundy Warehousing, Inc, it was with ease that we were able to provide toys and gifts to those in our care and their loved ones,” said Valerie Fessler, Director of Development and Community Engagement.

When visiting the shelter just before Christmas, Mr. Lundy expressed with sincerity, “today is not about my donation, the story that needs to be told is of the tremendous good the American Rescue Workers provides all year round – year after year… I was remarkably impressed with the level of service they are able to provide to the community with such limited resources.”

Mr. Lundy’s donation provided toys to all of the children in the shelter, as well as to the children and grandchildren of the men and women living in the shelters who would otherwise be unable to take care of their loved ones without this support. In addition to caring for the children in need, this donation also allowed American Rescue Workers to provide personalized gifts to each of the 64 adult shelter residents in their care on Christmas morning.

American Rescue Workers is a faith based non-profit organization providing homelessness and hunger prevention services in Central Pennsylvania since 1934. ARW cares holistically for men, women, and children who find themselves in an emergency situation or a homeless crisis by providing shelter and social services.
