Two people were using a dugout at Brandon Little League Field in the park as a temporary shelter, Williamsport police said.
“They were referred to local agencies where they could get help,” one officer at the scene said.
“They left all kinds of trash, food items and human waste” in the dugout, the officer said.
Police collected at least two bags of trash, and the city Bureau of Fire was dispatched to wash down the dugout, photos below, in an attempt to sanitize it.
“It was an absolute mess. It was horrible,” the officer said in describing the conditions.
Two people associated with Brandon Little League discovered the two homeless in or near the dugout about 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, police said.
It was unknown how long the two men had been staying in the dugout, police said. The two were charged with a summary offense of disorderly conduct, police said.
