City man locked up following gun incident

Two neighbors hearing the woman screaming in the 1600 block of Taylor Place about 2 p.m. Tuesday were so alarmed that they came out of their homes “to see what was happening,” according to a city police affidavit.

They saw a man armed with a handgun chasing a woman who was pulling away from the scene in her car, police were told.

Officers rushed to the scene and apprehended at gunpoint Kevin Geter, 28, 1678 Taylor Place, the affidavit stated. “I am compliant,” Geter said as he was stretched out on the payment, police said. Police found a stolen handgun in the man’s pants pocket. It was unknown if officers ever made contact with the woman he was chasing.

Following his arraignment before District Judge Christian Frey on felony charges of carrying a firearm without a license and receiving stolen property as well as a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct, Geter was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $125,000 bail.
