A Hughesville man has been jailed on charges of allegedly stealing his estranged wife's SUV from outside her Lycoming Creek Road apartment in Loyalsock Township one night in early February, according to state police said.
Although the woman reportedly had a protection from abuse order against Timothy Savage, the 32-year-old man began calling and texting her on the afternoon of Feb. 8. Hours later, Savage, of 127 S. Main St., texted her he was coming to get her 2012 Dodge Journey and that she should call police, according to an affidavit.
Shortly before 10 p.m., the woman heard a horn blowing outside her apartment, police said, adding that when she looked out her window, she saw someone driving away with her vehicle. About two hours later, police recovered her SUV – with Savage "partially in the driver's compartment" – in the area of routes 442 and 405 in Muncy Creek Township, according to the court document. Some of Savage's personal belongings were in the vehicle, police said.
Savage was taken into custody without incident and charged with felony theft, felony receiving stolen property, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license. Following his recent arraignment before District Judge William Solomon, he was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.
