Creating the Future: Overhead Door products made locally

Jack Schrader is proud of the fact that his Overhead Doors are manufactured on Reach Road by approximately 200 local residents, less than five miles from his Williamsport store.

As co-owner of Overhead Door Company of Lycoming County with wife Cindy Schrader, Jack said, “This is the only plant that makes ThemaCore Products.”

Those doors are then shipped to 455 distributors in the United States and Canada. For Jack, that is a boon for the whole community, not just for his business.

Founded in 1965, Overhead Door and Schrader Architectural Products have been servicing residential and commercial clients for over fifty years. Throughout that time, Jack has seen technology improve his products and business.

“A lot of doors [used to be] wood but the problem is you having to maintain them. Then we went to steel and insulated steel with different thickness for different R values,” said the garage door veteran.

Technology has also changed how customers order their products.

“People can go to our website and design their own door. They take a picture of the home and upload it to Doorview,” said Jack.

Schrader Architecture Products primarily works with the construction industry supplying them

with interior commercial specialties.. They include signage, interior wall protection, toilet compartments, accessories and fire suppression to name a few.

Whether working with residential or commercial clients, Jack is proud of his employees’ experience to service all clients.

He said, “They always work as a team and that’s what keeps me working. They bring me joy.”
