Harrisburg man caught with bringing drugs into prison
As motorist Anthony J. Miller was being detained by Lycoming County Sheriff deputies on Fairview Court in Montoursville on Feb. 11, investigators learned that there was a bench warrant for 38-year-old Harrisburg man’s arrest out of Snyder County. So he was patted down, handcuffed and placed in the back of a cruiser.
The deputy found nothing illegal that Miller was carrying, but he still warned the fugitive that if he did have anything on him, such as drugs or paraphernalia, he should give it up, otherwise if it is found at the jail, he will face a charge of contraband, according to an affidavit.
Miller apparently paid little attention to the deputy’s advice because soon after he arrived at the prison, he removed a bag from his groin area and threw it on the floor, court records stated. In the bag were five bundles of suspected heroin-fentanyl, the affidavit stated. The incident has resulted in Miller being charged with felony contraband, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He remains jailed in lieu of $250,000 bail.
