Carl F. Schultz, 62, of 276 Linvic Road, Muncy, has been charged with recklessly endangering, simple assault and felony carrying a firearm without a license after pointing a handgun at another man at 4901 Route 220 in Wolf Township about 3 p.m. on Saturday, state police alleged in an affidavit.
There was "a verbal altercation" between Schultz and the victim after Schulz discovered the victim parked on his property, a large gravel lot off the side of the road, police said. The victim, not identified in court documents, was sitting in his van, working on business papers when Schultz approached him, police said. The victim was unaware that Schultz owned the lot, police said, adding that there were no "no trespassing" signs on the property.
The victim told Schultz "multiple times" that he was willing to leave, the affidavit said. Schultz then retreated to his pickup truck, got a handgun and pointed it at the victim and the man's van, police alleged. The victim quickly fled to a nearby business and called police.
Schultz was taken into custody without incident at a garage at 5058 Route 220, police said, adding Schultz told them the handgun "used in relation to this incident" was in his office in the garage. Troopers recovered the weapon after getting a search warrant that allowed them to go through the building. Following his arraignment before District Judge Christian Frey, Schultz was released on $25,000 bail.
