Bail was denied Monday night for a Loyalsock Township man who was wanted in connection with a downtown shooting that occurred during the early morning hours of April 3 in which a bystander was struck in the buttocks, city police said in an affidavit.
City police alleged Daimeer Abdul Clark fired "10 rounds" at a man identified in court papers as Quahdeir Marquise Durrant in an alley near West Fourth and Court streets about 1:40 a.m. The shooting was captured on a surveillance video, which also recorded Durrant, 24, "raising his arm in a manner consistent with someone pointing and firing a gun," according to an officer's affidavit.
The shooting occurred after Durrant and a third man identified as Nail Beyah, 27, "got into a fight" with the 22-year-old Clark, police said.
"Clark can be seen on video leaving the front of a downtown business and coming back a few minutes later with a definitive bulge in his waistband that would be consistent with a firearm," the affidavit stated.
After the fight gets broken up, Durrant and Beyah "leave towards their vehicle, but they do not get in it. Clark is seen heading north and then goes off camera," court documents stated.
"There is another camera angle that shows Durrant running north on Court Street with his hand on his waist as if he was concealing a handgun," police said, adding that he was heading to West Fourth Street, where he just might "intercept Clark if Clark was walking down" that street, court documents stated.
A surveillance camera then records Clark allegedly firing several rounds in Durrant's direction.
No charges have been filed against Durrant or Beyah.
One of the rounds allegedly fired by Clark struck a man who was loading DJ equipment into his vehicle, police said.
"The victim heard six or seven shots and then felt pain in his left buttocks directly after hearing the shots. It was determined he suffered a gunshot wound," the lead investigator in the case said in the affidavit.
A friend who was with the victim grabbed him "and pulled him behind the car to protect both of them," the investigator said.
Another round allegedly fired by Clark, of 1724 Four Mile Drive, apartment 1c, struck "a drain pipe attached to the building behind Durrant," police said.
The victim was treated at the Geisinger medical facility outside Pennsdale and discharged.
Clark, who was arrested in Philadelphia by U.S. Marshals on Monday, was arraigned before District Judge William Solomon on charges of carrying a firearm without a license, discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, possession of an instrument of crime, recklessly endangering another person, propulsion of missiles into an occupied vehicle or onto the the roadway, simple assault and disorderly conduct.
At the time of his arrest, Clark, who is already on probation in Philadelphia for a firearms conviction, had two handguns on him, court records stated.
