A former Lycoming College student's lawsuit against Lycoming College alleging the college permitted an environment that allowed female students to be victimized in sexual assaults was dismissed this week.
The lawsuit in U.S. Middle District Court said the student, identified as Jane Doe, said that she was sexually assaulted by a men's basketball player in a dormitory in 2018.
The college issued a no-contact order to the male and launched an investigation. But the woman claimed the college was negligent and allowed the conditions for the assault to take place.
"The college has invested heavily in processes to assure our students that we do not tolerate sexual misconduct of any type and which, when such complaints are made, protect the interests and confidentiality of our students," a college statement said.
