Forest fire burned out of control for hours
WATERVILLE — Several volunteer fire companies along with crews from the Bureau of Forestry battled a forest fire on a mountain along Route 44 that was discovered about 6:30 p.m. Thursday and burned out of control for several hours, according to officials at the scene.
Smoke was visible from the mountain near Dam Run Road in Cummings Township. It was believed the crews fought the fire until the early morning hours on Friday. It was unknown how many acres were consumed. Efforts to reach fire officials for more information were unsuccessful.
