While in an intoxicated state inside Sheetz on Route 220 in Woodward Township about 1 a.m., 22-year-old Nyreece Speck called the state police and told them he "wanted to fight them and go to jail," according to an affidavit.
That is exactly what happened, police said.
Speck, of 210 Smith Circle, Linden, was creating quite a commotion at the convenience store shortly after he arrived there in his 2004 Nissan Sentra, which he parked "in multiple parking stalls on the north side of the building," police said in the court document.
"Speck had smoked a cigar in the store, attempted to act as a cashier and smacked an employee's hat off his head," police said, adding that he also refused employees' orders to get out.
"I detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from him, and his eyes were glossy and bloodshot," a trooper wrote in the affidavit. Speck refused all orders and fought with the troopers, kicking and head butting one of them, police alleged, adding that it took several officers to force Speck into the back of a cruiser. He was taken to UPMC Williamsport, and after being medically cleared, he was arraigned before District Judge William Solomon on charges of aggravated and simple assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, DUI and harassment, and committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $75,000 bail.
