Lycoming County Brotherhood Alliance seeks nominations for ‘Unsung Hero’ award

By From staff reports 3 min read

A new award named the "Unsung Hero” award will be presented by the Lycoming County

Brotherhood Alliance at their 66th Annual Brotherhood Banquet.

The Lycoming County Brotherhood Alliance (LCBA) is seeking the help of the public to nominate

individuals in our communities that make a dramatic impact and live a life of service to others

without compensation or expecting anything in return. The LCBA Board of Directors recognizes

that there are many individuals in our community that make a difference in the lives of others

and are never acknowledged, nor do they seek recognition for what they do, but do it because

of their love of people and great concern for the overall good of mankind. These “Unsung

Heros,” can be found in churches, synagogues, schools, PTA's, service clubs, private clubs,

lunch rooms, kid's clubs and many other numerous places that we might not be aware of.

Criteria

An “Unsung Hero” is an individual in Lycoming County who would normally not be recognized

nor would expect to be recognized. This is an individual who isn't working or serving in an

executive position of a business or organization that serves others. This is an individual who

participates in a private activity or a variety of activities, (church, vacation bible schools,

cafeterias, school, community centers, sports fields, fire companies, scouts, kid's

camps, parks, playgrounds, etc.) that are beneficial to the lives of the people and community in

which they serve. The Brotherhood seeks individuals that are humble in character and not

serving in order to seek recognition, nor being paid in an occupation that serves others. This is

someone with a heart for volunteerism that by their service to others exemplifies the true

meaning of brotherhood.
