Carlos Acosta, 33, of 326 Bridge St., has been charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after he was found to be carrying 230 grams of marijuana in the 600 block of Second Avenue on March 19, city police alleged in a court papers. He has since waived his preliminary hearing and is free on $15,000 bail.
In another case, Irvin Kaseem Cook, 24, of 837 High St., has been charged by the county's Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU) with three felony counts each of delivery of a controlled substance and illegal use of a communication device for his alleged involvement in three city sales of ecstasy pills, oxycodone hydrochloride pills or marijuana between Feb. 6 and April 20, according to court records filed at District Judge Aaron Biichle. Two of the sales occurred at First Avenue and High Street while a third took place at Third Avenue and High Street, investigators said. He is free on $75,000 bail.
In another case, the narcotics unit also has charged Tyrone Shawn Small, 40, of 705 Hepburn St., apartment 3S, has been charged with three felony counts each of delivery of a controlled substance and illegal use of a communication device for allegedly selling cocaine on three occasions to either an informant or an undercover officer during last August, according to court records. Two of the sales occurred at Small's apartment, while a third happened in the 1600 block of Randall Circle in Loyalsock Township, investigators alleged. Small also has been charged with one felony count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance after investigators executed a search warrant at his apartment on Aug. 18 and seized 21 grams of the controlled substance, according to court records. He is free on $75,000 bail.
In another NEU case, Christopher Donte Payton, 43, of 330 Government Place, apartment 8, has been charged with delivery of a controlled substance and illegal use of a cellphone after allegedly selling 1.35 grams of cocaine to an informant for $100 in the 300 block of Bridge Street in the city in early January 2022, court document stated. Payton has waived his hearing and is free on $50,000 bail.
The narcotics unit has also charged Ada Wells, 50, 836 High St., apartment 1, with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance for methamphetamines that were found in a woman's purse and tossed by a family member out a window as investigators and city police raided the apartment with a warrant on the morning of Feb. 2. She admitted that she knew Mark Robinson, 50, who lives with her, was "selling methamphetamine." Robinson was charged earlier this year and is awaiting trial on a series of felony drug charges. Wells has waived her preliminary hearing and remains jailed in lieu of $50,000 bail.
