Six weeks after he took Muncy police on high-speed pursuit that began in the borough and ended when the officer terminated his involvement in the chase out of safety concerns, motorcyclist Caleb Rooker, 26, of Muncy Valley, took Hughesville police on a lengthy pursuit while riding the same motorcycle, according to court records. The first pursuit took place about 10:40 p.m. on Feb. 13 and started in the 200 block of North Main Street in Muncy. The cyclist turned onto Mechanic Street, and it was estimated he was traveling at a speed close to 80 mph, police said in an affidavit. Police allege that Rooker was traveling so fast at Chestnut and Green streets that the motorcycle briefly went airborne. Out of safety concerns, the officer ended his involvement in the pursuit on Route 442 at Clarkstown, court records stated.
Shortly after 12:15 p.m. on March 31, Rooker allegedly took Hughesville police on a lengthy pursuit that began on North Main Street in the borough and continued on numerous roads before ending on Wolf Run Road, where another officer drew his service revolver and ordered Rooker to the ground, according to court documents. Rooker complied with the order.
Rooker faces two misdemeanor counts of fleeing police as well as numerous summary offenses, including reckless driving, driving without a license and driving with a suspended license. One set of charges was filed by Muncy police while another was filed by Hughesville police. Rooker has waived his preliminary hearing in both cases and is free on $10,000 bail.
