Robert L. Steinbacher, 85, of 20 Stewart St., Linden, has been jailed on 100 felony counts of child pornography as a result of pornographic pictures of minors found on his home computer that state police with the North East Computer Crime Unit seized with a search warrant in mid-February, according to an affidavit.

The investigation began after state police received a tip from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Program, which is a national network of 61 task forces representing over 4,500 federal, state and local law enforcement and prosecutorial agencies.

On Steinbacher’s computer, investigators found “15 images which showed minors being sexually assaulted by adults, and another 85 photos or videos that are considered child sexual abuse material,” police alleged in a criminal complaint.

Following his arraignment before District Judge Denise Dieter, Steinbacher was incarcerated in lieu of $200,000 bail.
