Luzerne County man charged with terroristic threats

During a two-hour period on the morning of May 11, Khaleef Thomas-Smith called his ex-girlfriend 120 times at the Best Western Hotel, 1840 E. Third St., even though she repeatedly told him to stop calling, according to state police.

When the woman blocked his calls, the Luzerne County man began to call the motel itself dozens of times, telling the manager at one point “I will kill everyone in the lobby — literally,” police alleged in an affidavit.

When a state trooper arrived and spoke with the woman and the staff, Thomas-Smith, 31, of Kingston, called.

The trooper took the phone, identified himself and told the caller “to stop calling the hotel,” court records stated.

Thomas-Smith replied, “I don’t give (an expletive) who you are,” before hanging up, police said.

Thomas-Smith has been arrested and arraigned before District Judge Gary Whiteman on charges of terroristic threats, stalking and harassment. He was initially jailed, but has since been released on $15,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled at the end of the month.
