Two people have been charged with theft in separate cases filed by Montoursville and Hughesville police.

Lauren Marie Abriola, 37, of Trout Run, faces a theft charge after allegedly taking another woman's Airpods valued at $300, according to an affidavit by Montoursville Police Officer Ron Bachman.

A Montoursville woman said she lost the Airpods while walking near her home. The pods were later located at Abriola's residence, police said.

A summons was sent to Abriola, charging her with one count of theft.

Abriola waived her hearing before District Judge Gary Whiteman and was released after posting $5,000 bail.

In a separate theft case, Gary Eugene Lamoreaux, 55, of Hughesville, was charged with theft by unlawful taking or disposition and receiving stolen property on June 12 at about 5:03 p.m, according to an affidavit by Hughesville Police Officer Andrew Boyer.

Lamoreaux allegedly took a large taxidermy sailfish, which was sitting next to a victim's garage. The victim estimated the loss at $1,600. Lamoreaux told Hughesville police he thought he could take it because it was in the rain for several days and thought the owner wanted to throw it out.

Lamoureux failed to appear before District Judge William C. Solomon and a bench warrant was expected to be filed.
