At 10 p.m. on March 25, Brad Sacknievich, 26, of Mayfield, was arrested after state police were dispatched to the 11000 block of State Route 118 in front of the Dandy Mart in Jordan Township, for a report of a vehicle, identified as a 2020 Nissan Altima, off the roadway and an individual unsteady on their feet walking around the vehicle.
When police arrived, Sacknievich attempted to exit his vehicle, but complied with police when told to stay inside. He stated that he had left his girlfriend’s house, and was waiting for his daughter to pick him up because his car would not start, according to court documents.
Police detected an odor of alcohol coming from Sacknievich, and when questioned about the odor, responded "no alcohol."
He failed a field sobriety test, and had a BAC of .26.
Sacknievich was charged with DUI, a summary offense and released.
In another case, at 1 a.m. on Nov. 11, 2022, Gregory Bieber, 53, of 1700 Riverside Drive, South Williamsport, was arrested after police were dispatched to Buffalo Wild Wings for a report of a male slumped over the driver’s seat of a vehicle, identified by police as a 1988 Ford Ranger, in the parking lot, with the ignition running.
Upon arrival, police noticed vomit trailing from the driver’s window to the ground, according to an affidavit.
Bieber awoke when police knocked on the window to gain his attention, and a strong odor of alcohol was detected coming from the vehicle. He had extremely bloodshot eyes, and admitted to consuming four to five alcoholic beverages prior to entering the vehicle.
Bieber failed a field sobriety test, and had a BAC of .15.
He was charged with DUI, arraigned and jailed in lieu of $5,000 bail.
In another case, at 8 p.m. on Feb. 14, Randy Cowher, 27, of 170 Pinecrest Drive, Lot 81, was stopped by city police after they observed that the registration on his 2006 Subaru had expired in July 2002.
Police initially detected the odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle, and Cowher was seen placing a coat over an open beer can in the center console, according to court documents. In addition, the odor of alcohol became stronger as Cowher spoke.
He failed a field sobriety test and refused lab work.
Cowher was charged with DUI, a summary offense, waived his preliminary hearing, and was released.
In another case, at 1 a.m. on June 4, Jaiden Gardner, 22, of 695 Cemetery Drive, Hughesville, was stopped by state police after they observed his 2004 Toyota Tacoma running a red light in the area of North Main and Walnut streets in Hughesville. Police further noted that his vehicle had an inoperable driver's side brake light and lacked a tailpipe or muffler.
Gardner's eyes were glassy and bloodshot, and police detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle, court documents state.
Gardner admitted to consuming alcohol prior to driving and police noted that both of his state required vehicle inspections had expired in May, according to an affidavit.
He failed a field sobriety test, and had a BAC of .11.
Gardner was charged with DUI, five summary offenses, waived his preliminary hearing and was released on bail.
