Williamsport couple charged after they were caught having sex on hospital grounds

A man and a woman face criminal charges for engaging in sexual activity in public near some bushes outside the emergency department at UPMC Williamsport, 700 High St., during the early morning hours of July 7, it was alleged in an affidavit filed by hospital police.

Describing herself as "a free spirit," Nina Louisa Morgan told officers that she "'just got caught up in the moment' and did not think there was anything wrong with bringing Scott Cover to this 'beautiful spot that looks like a garden' to have sex (with him)," the affidavit stated.

Two patients arriving at the emergency department to seek medical treatment about 1:15 a.m. reported to hospital security at the door that there "were two people near the bushes by the sidewalk having sex," the affidavit stated.

Both Clover, 31, of 643 Elmira St., and Morgan, 34, of 927 Prospect Ave., "were clearly visible from all areas of a parking lot or any one of three hospital sidewalks," an officer wrote in the affidavit. The two "were completely naked in an open area near the emergency room entrance of the hospital," court records stated.

When an officer caught them allegedly in the act of having sex, Clover said "in a low voice 'Cops'" and stopped, but Morgan "grabbed at him and told him not to stop," police said.

As Cover was quickly handcuffed, Morgan asked the officers why they were "interrupting 'our party,'" the affidavit stated. When questioned, Cover claimed it was Morgan's idea "to come to the hospital and do it in the spot" where they were caught, court records stated. "I just went with it," he said. Cover stated he didn't realize "how busy this place (the hospital) gets at night," police said, He and Morgan, who currently is incarcerated in the Montgomery County Prison on another criminal matter, have been charged with indecent exposure, open lewdness and disorderly conduct. Cover has waived his preliminary hearing and is free on $5,000 bail while Morgan was arraigned Wednesday morning before District Judge Aaron Biichle and was recommitted in lieu of $5,000 bail.
