City man charged with assault
With a knife in one hand, Charles Kurtz formed a fist with the other and "sucker punched" his girlfriend "for no reason" just moments after she awoke from a nap on a couch in the home they share at 1501 W. Fourth St. about 2:30 a.m. Thursday, city police alleged. When officers arrived on the scene, the woman was on the front porch, bleeding from her mouth, police said. The woman claimed Kurtz, 66, was "drunk and upset regarding" issues concerning their relationship, an affidavit stated. Following his arraignment before District Judge Christian Frey on charges of simple assault and harassment, Kurtz was released on $5,000 bail.

charges following disturbance
Timothy L. Jacobs, 47, has been arrested on various charges stemming from an Aug. 17 disturbance at Haleeka Camp Ground, 6459 Lycoming Creek Road, where he lives, according to Lycoming Regional police. Jacobs confronted another person at the site, "pounding loudly" on the man's camper, "causing dents in a door and in the side of the camper," police alleged in an affidavit. At one point, Jacobs punched his right hand through a window to the camper door, police alleged, "Jacobs made several threats to the man, and tried to entice him to come out and fight him," the affidavit stated. Arraigned before District Judge William Solomon on charges of terroristic threats, feeling trespassing, loitering, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief, Jacobs was initially jailed, but has since been released on $50,000 bail. He has waived his preliminary hearing.
Jersey Shore man faces drug charges
Chad James Gibson, 31, of 436 S. Main St., Jersey Shore, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after a bag of suspected methamphetamine were found in his 2006 Subaru Outback during a consensual search on Oliver Street in Jersey Shore on July 13, according to court records filed by Lycoming Regional police at the office of District Judge Denise Dieter. He has been sent a summons to appear before the judge.
