Two injured after striking tree on Route 287; vehicle overturns after striking embankment

Two occupants received minor injuries in a late morning crash when a Dodge Ram struck a tree on Route 287 in the area of Zinch Road, according to Citizens Hose Company Chief Ethan Goodbrod. The driver, who was extracted from the vehicle by fire services. The driver of this Ford Focus received a hand laceration when his vehicle struck an embankment and overturned just before 1 p.m. along Trout Run Mountain Road. It is believed the accident was partially caused by slick road conditions including early season black ice, according to Nick Smith, chief of Trout Run Vol. Fire Dept. 16.
