John Leroy Hill, 53, of 2305 Lycoming Creek Road, has been charged with felony theft of services and one misdemeanor count of bad check as a result of failing to pay Fairfield Ford of Williamsport, 3600 W. Fourth St., a $2,600 bill for repairs that the dealership did on his vehicle clear back in the summer of 2021, it is alleged in a city police affidavit. Hill had received a $2,103 check from an insurance company that was to go towards the bill, but "Hill lied about receiving the check, which he cashed," police alleged. Hill wrote a $500 check to the dealership, but that check bounced, police said. Hill has since waived his preliminary hearing before District Judge Christian Frey and is free on bail.
