Daniel Mitchell, 29, of 72 Railroad St., apartment 6, P.O. Box 101, Picture Rocks, failed to scan items on five separate occasions while using a self-checkout at Weis Markets in Muncy Creek Township, state police allege.
Weis Markets retail theft investigator, Brian Christiana first became aware of the thefts by way of a suspicious activity report on Sept. 27, and identified Mitchell as the alleged thief, according to an affidavit.
Christiana provided police with surveillance video showing Mitchell failing to scan items and leaving the store without paying for them, court documents state.
The thefts, which occurred between Aug. 1 and Sept. 14 totaled $418.26.
Mitchell was arraigned on a charge of retail theft before District Judge Gary Whiteman, waived his preliminary hearing and was released on $5,000 bail.
