Four charged with assault in separate cases
Arriving at the scene of a reported disturbance in the 2600 block of Grand Street about 3 a.m. on Oct. 4, city police saw a woman "bleeding from a laceration near her left eyebrow. There was blood on her shirt, and her left knee was also blooded from her jeans being torn," court records stated. Officers learned that while the woman was standing on the front porch, Seth Thomas Baker had pushed her off the porch, and then "stood over her, punching her in the face about eight times for an unknown reason," police alleged, adding that someone else on the porch had to intervene and pull him off her. Baker, 26, 611 Lehman Drive, Cogan Station, fled the scene, but he was recently arraigned before District Judge Christian Frey on charges of simple assault and harassment. He has been held for court on both charges and remains free on $5,000 bail.
In another case, Asia Ransom,27, of 619 Second St., has been charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment for allegedly punching a male acquaintance multiple times in the face that resulted in his left eye to become swollen shut and caused a laceration on his left cheek inside the Finish Line, 2014 W. Fourth St., about 4:45 p.m. on Nov. 12, city police alleged. Arraigned last week before Frey, Ransom was released on $10,000 bail.
In another case, Ryan Bryce Dunmore, 34, of 1030 ½ High St., face charges of strangulation, simple assault and false imprisonment after he grabbed his former girlfriend and began hitting her when she dropped off clothing at his apartment on Wednesday morning, according to city police. He then "picked her up by her neck, dragged her into a bathroom and put her in a tub," restraining her, preventing her from leaving until she attacked his groin area, forcing him to let her go, police alleged. Following his arraignment Thursday before Frey, Dunmore was released on $15,000 bail.
In another case, Melvin R. Stryker, 52, of 55 Jane St., Linden, has been charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct, harassment and criminal mischief for allegedly striking Larry and Kassady Rooker outside his Woodward Township home during a disturbance about 7:45 p.m. last March 26, state police said in an affidavit. Melvin Stryker allegedly also damaged Larry Rooker's vehicle with the cane, police said. Stryker has been sent a summons to appear before District Judge Denise Dieter.
Six charged with drug offenses in separate cases
When Michael Charles Devan was taken into city police custody for having a small bag of marijuana in his possession in the 100 block of Market Street about 3 p.m. on Jan. 2, he was taken taken to headquarters, where during a strip search, bags containing 14 grams of cocaine were found hidden in his underwear, it was alleged in an affidavit. Following his arraignment before District Judge Gary Whiteman on charges of delivery of a controlled substance, possession of controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, Devan, 40, of 1913 Lincoln Drive, was committed to the Lycoming Prison in lieu of $15,000 bail.
In another drug case,Sylvester Richard Greene, 42, of Philadelphia, has been charged by the county's Narcotic Enforcement Unit (NEU) with delivery of a controlled substance and illegal use of a cellphone for allegedly selling an undisclosed amount of cocaine to an undercover officer in the 400 block of Hepburn Street in the city on Dec. 1, according to court records. Initially jailed following his arraignment before Frey, Greene has since been released on $25,000 bail.
In another NEU case, Linda Jean Street, 48, of 2206 Spring Garden St., has been charged with delivery of a controlled substance and illegal use of cellphone for allegedly selling 3.5 grams of methamphetamine to an undercover officer in the 800 block of Washington Boulevard in the city on Oct. 17, court records stated. Arraigned last week before Frey, Street was initially jailed, but has since been released on $15,000 bail.
In another NEU case, Raheem Jackson, 33, of 1626 Memorial Ave., has been charged with delivery of a controlled substance and illegal use of a cellphone for his alleged involvement in the sale of 3.6 grams of cocaine to an informant on Memorial Avenue in the city last Aug. 8, according to court records. Arraigned recently before District Judge Kirsten Gardner, Jackson was released on $50,000 bail.
In another case, the county's NEU has charged Carl Alford, 51, of 527 Eighth Ave., has been charged with delivery of a controlled substance for allegedly selling six bags of fentanyl to an undercover officer in the area of High Street and Wildwood Boulevard in the city on March 14. Following his arraignment before Frey, Alford was released on $15,000 bail.
Gary Alan Fausey II, 36, of South Summit Street, Lock Haven, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia in the 600 block of Railroad Street in Jersey Shore on Aug. 16, according to Lycoming Regional police. He has since waived his preliminary hearing before Gardner and is free on bail.
Fairfield Township man jailed on numerous offenses
About 30 minutes after Montoursville police to a report of a man seen damaging an antique Christmas sleigh in the 300 block of Broad Street during the early morning hours of Dec. 28, an officer spotted someone two blocks away who matched the description of the suspect and pulled over.The man, Connor Alan Walker, 22, of 80 Warren St., Fairfield Township, asked the officer for a ride to Williamsport. Once Walker, who was carrying a backpack, got into the cruiser, the officer told him he had been looking for him and that he wanted to ask him about damaging Christmas decorations, according to an affidavit.
Walker freely admitted that he had "gotten mad and broke a sleigh and a couple other things," the affidavit stated. It is alleged he damaged some lights and decorations on a Christmas tree as well as a community box exchange box on Broad Street. However, there was much more to the story, police said.
Since he was on probation, Walker was going to be placed in the Lycoming County Prison on a probation violation. When he was told that he was going to jail, he admitted he had a small amount of marijuana on him, which was seized by the officer. After he was incarcerated, police took a report from a woman in the 400 block of Broad Street who reported that someone broke into her house overnight, ransacked the property. It turned out that the backpack and the marijuana Walker had with him were stolen from the house, police alleged. Walker later admitted to the burglary, police said. Walker was arraigned last week before Whiteman on charges of burglary, felony trespassing, criminal mischief, theft, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, recommitted in lieu of $10,000 bail.
Muncy man faces felony charges
Tate Allen Hamm, 32, of 100 S. Market St., Muncy, has been charged with felony theft and receiving stolen property after stealing a rifle owned by Joshua Geyer from outside Sheetz, 5676 Route 15, in Clinton Township about 8 p.m. on Nov. 18, state police said. The rifle was in a case and Geyer had momentarily placed the case on a trash can while inside the business, police said. Hamm picked up the case and drove away with it, police alleged. Following his arraignment before Whiteman, Hamm was released on $25,000 bail.
Woman charged with shoplifting
yet again
Samantha Lee Parson (also spelled Parsons), 32, of the 500 block of Pepper St., Muncy, has been charged with three misdemeanor counts of shoplifting and one count of receiving stolen property, according to state police. In court documents, she is alleged to have stolen $116 of merchandise from Cole's Hardware on Muncy Creek Boulevard in Muncy Creek Township on Oct. 15, police said. Investigators also allege she stole $23 worth of merchandise from the nearby Weis Market on East Penn Street, and $26 worth of merchandise from the same supermarket on Oct. 22. State police have her last name spelled two different ways in the court records. She has waived her preliminary hearing on all the charges before Gardner and is free pm $10,000 bail. In late June, Lycoming Regional police charged Parsons with shoplifting at the Weis Market and the Family Dollar, both on Lycoming Creek Road in Old Lycoming Township. She is free on $5,000 bail on these charges.
