When state police stopped Kyle Barnett, 39, of 687 Grier St., near Pine and Sixth streets on Dec. 19, for a faulty exhaust, they discovered his license was under suspension for a previous DUI conviction, an affidavit said.
Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the registration plate on the vehicle he was driving, a 2011 Subaru Legacy, was flagged as being stolen out of West Virginia.
Barnett was able to produce a title and bill of sale matching the registered owner of the vehicle, which was not itself flagged as stolen, court documents said.
The vehicle was last registered in Connecticut and had expired in August 2018.
Barnett was arraigned on charges of receiving stolen property and three summary offenses.
