It was just after 3 a.m. on Nov. 12, when city police stopped 19 year-old Timothy Dudak, of Saylorsburg, after a passenger was hanging out the window of his 2015 Subaru, screaming at a patrol car along West Third Street.
Turning around, police caught up to Dudak near Seventh Street and Isabella Court, where he rapidly accelerated, before turning onto Eighth Street, and ultimately passed Isabella Street before stopping at Freed Place and Seventh Avenue, court documents said.
Dudak was walking towards the back of the residence before being called back, police said, where he admitted to having consumed alcohol earlier in the evening.
An open container of alcohol was visible in the center console of Dudak’s vehicle, according to court documents.
He failed a field sobriety test and had a BAC of .15.
Dudak was charged with DUI, waived his preliminary hearing and was released on $5,000 bail.
In another case, Mackenzie Boyce, 29, of 2119 Reed St., was stopped by state police on the Faxon exit off-ramp on I-180 East in Loyalsock Township, when they discovered the registration on her 2019 Honda Insight to be expired just before 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 13.
Boyce had an odor of alcohol and glassy, bloodshot eyes, police allege and stated that she was headed home from work, where she had her shift drink an hour prior.
She failed a field sobriety test and refused lab work.
Boyce was charged with DUI, three summary offenses and was released on $5,000 bail.
In another case, upon arriving at West Fourth and Market streets, police discovered 20-year-old Rynell Brooks-Brown, of 703 Hepburn St., apartment 1, asleep behind the wheel of his 2004 Saturn sedan at the traffic light at 11:15 p.m. on Nov. 14.
Brooks-Brown admitted to having consumed alcohol and marijuana prior to driving, police allege, and an open can of alcohol was observed in the center console.
He failed a field sobriety test and lab work results were positive for a BAC of .09 and the presence THC.
Brooks-Brown was charged with DUI.
In another case, at 11:45 p.m. on June 1, state police arrested Jamie Hill, 40, of 306 Valley St., DuBoistown after her 2017 Chevrolet Equinox was involved in a hit and run in the jurisdiction of Lycoming Regional Police.
While canvassing the area near Hill’s home, police observed a vehicle with heavy front end damage and sparks coming from the passenger side tires matching the description of the vehicle involved in the hit and run along Jacks Hollow Road in Armstrong Township, and initiated a traffic stop.
Despite both passenger tires being shredded and all the airbags being deployed, Hill told police she had no idea that the vehicle was damaged so heavily, and that she was headed home, according to court documents.
Hill had a strong odor of alcohol, thick, slurred speech and glossy, bloodshot eyes, police allege.
She admitted to having consumed two to three alcoholic beverages prior to driving, with her last being around 9:30 p.m., police allege. Hill further admitted she had smoked marijuana about an hour before driving.
Hill informed police that she possessed a medical marijuana card and produced a jar of THC wax and a marijuana vape pen, which were not in their original dispensary containers.
Hill failed a partial field sobriety test, repeatedly telling police she was "drunk," and refusing to perform additional tests.
She had a BAC of .20.
Hill was charged with DUI, possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and two summary offenses.
In another case, Patricia Weller, 26, of 2244 Mosser Ave., was stopped by state police near Washington Boulevard and Franklin Street after they observed the registration light on his 2020 Chevrolet Trax to be inoperable at 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 9.
Weller had an odor of alcohol and glassy, bloodshot eyes, stated she had a shot at a local establishment and that she was driving around her passengers, police allege.
She further admitted to having consumed alcohol earlier in the day, according to court documents.
Weller failed a field sobriety test and had a BAC of .11.
She was charged with DUI, three summary offenses, waived her preliminary hearing and was released on $5,000 bail.
In another case, state police stopped 29 year old Nashia Day, of 340 Mountain Ave., along I-180 East near the Faxon interchange in Loyalsock Township after they observed her 2015 Kia Soul traveling at 70 mph in a 55 mph zone just after 2 a.m. on Nov. 22.
Day, whose license was currently under suspension, had glassy, bloodshot eyes with dilated pupils and admitted to having consumed marijuana approximately two and a half hours prior to driving, police allege.
An odor of raw and burnt alcohol was detected from the vehicle, and a partially smoked blunt was in the driver’s door console, according to an affidavit.
Additionally, police discovered a small amount of marijuana in the left front pocket of Day’s pants.
Day failed a field sobriety test and lab results were positive for the presence of THC.
She was charged with DUI, possession of a small amount of marijuana, three summary offenses, waived her preliminary hearing and was released on $5,000 bail.
