At 2 a.m. on Nov. 19, Taheed Berry, 39, of 623 Cemetery St., was stopped by state police on Tinsman Avenue in Loyalsock Township after they observed his 2013 Dodge Avenger, with no operable registration light, cross the fogline three times, and travel with its turn signal on for three blocks.
Berry had an odor of alcohol, glassy, bloodshot eyes, and was discovered to be driving under a suspended driver's license, police allege.
Berry failed a field sobriety test, and had a BAC of .12.
He was charged with DUI, six summary offenses, waived his preliminary hearing, and was released on $5,000 bail.
In another case, state police stopped Andre Mullen, 41, of 528 Ruben Kehrer Road, Lot 112, Muncy, along Fairfield Road on Sept. 23, after they observed his 2007 Chevrolet Silverado weaving within its lane, and carrying a registration that expired in August.
Mullen admitted to not having a driver's license due to it currently being under suspension, police allege. They detected an odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle, and Mullen admitted to smoking marijuana in the car, "but not today."
Displaying bloodshot eyes, Mullen stated that he had last smoked marijuana three weeks ago, relating that people he had dropped off earlier have their medical marijuana cards and had been smoking in the vehicle, court documents said.
Mullen later admitted to having smoked marijuana two hours prior to driving.
He failed a field sobriety test, and lab results were positive for the presence of THC.
Mullen was charged with DUI, two summary offenses, waived his preliminary hearing, and was released on $5,000 bail.
In another case, Ian Haines, 19, of 1900 Greenview Road, Montoursville, was stopped by state police after his 2011 Ford Escape failed to stop for a posted stop sign at Westminster and Lincoln drives in Loyalsock Township around 2:46 a.m. on July 1.
An odor of both alcohol and burnt marijuana was detected from the vehicle, and Haines had glassy, bloodshot eyes, police allege.
Haines admitted to having consumed alcohol and marijuana prior to driving, and while speaking with police outside of his vehicle, tried to inconspicuously discard a makeshift marijuana smoking device, an affidavit said.
Upon Haines' admission, police seized marijuana from his center console.
He failed a field sobriety test, had a BAC of .84, and lab results were positive for the presence of THC.
Haines was charged with DUI, possession of a small amount of marijuana,possession of drug paraphernalia, four summary offenses, waived his preliminary hearing, and was released on $5,000 bail.
In another case, at 1 p.m. on Nov. 19, state police stopped 26 year old Ellen Oakes, of 46 W. Creek Road, Cogan Station, after they observed the registration light on her 2019 Ford Fusion to be inoperable near Mulberry and E. Third streets. Additionally, the vehicle had a decorative license plate cover that obscured where the plate was issued from.
Oakes, who had bloodshot eyes, told police that she was coming from a birthday party in Lewisburg, where she had consumed two mixed drinks roughly two hours prior to the stop, an affidavit.
Due to her possession of a medical marijuana card, police inquired as to when she last consumed it. Oakes initially told them it had been two days, but later admitted it had been an hour prior to the stop, court documents said.
Oakes failed a field sobriety test, and lab results were positive for the presence of THC.
She was charged with DUI, four summary offenses, waived her preliminary hearing, and was released on $5,000 bail.
In another case, Edward Nevel, 25, of Orangeville, was stopped by state police after his 2022 GMC Terrain drove through a red light at W. Fourth and William streets, stopping partially into the intersection just after midnight on Nov. 23. The registration on the GMC had expired in September.
An odor of burnt marijuana was detected from the vehicle, and Nevel had glassy, bloodshot eyes, police allege. A marijuana grinder was in full view in the center console.
Nevel acknowledged ownership of the grinder, and related he had smoked marijuana in Milton before traveling to Williamsport.
During a search, police discovered two Lorazepam pills that Nevel said had been given to him earlier that day by a friend due to some back pain he was experiencing, an affidavit said.
He failed a field sobriety test, and lab results were positive for the presence of THC.
Nevel was charged with DUI, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, three summary offenses, waived his preliminary hearing, and was released on $5,000 bail.
In another case, when state police arrived at a residence in the 7000 block of South Route 44 in Limestone Township at 5:45 p.m. on Feb. 12, they were informed that an alleged actor identified as 68 year old Frederick Palmatier, of 452 Wells Road, had driven his 2024 Chevrolet Silverado to a residence in the 2000 block of Lorson Road.
Palmatier, who had a strong odor of alcohol, was on the side porch of the residence when police arrived, according to court documents.
Slurring his words and displaying glassy, bloodshot eyes, he admitted to having consumed wine prior to driving, police allege.
Palmatier initially agreed to a field sobriety test before changing his mind, an affidavit said.
He had a BAC of .37.
Palmatier was charged with DUI.
