In a plea agreement presented before District Judge Denise Dieter, Raymond Edward Poust Jr., 21, of 718 Wilson St., made arrangements to pay $1,260 in fines and court costs after pleading guilty to possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia stemming from an incident when Lycoming Regional police stopped his vehicle on Route 220 near Jersey Shore on March 28. Police withdrew a felony charge of possession of a handgun without a permit and two summary offenses. However, co-defendant Jessica Smith, 32, of Turbotville,who was in the car with Poust, was recently held for court on the same felony firearm violation as well as the drug charges. She is free on $50,000 bail.
In another case, Brennan Scott Gundrum, 27, of 1153 E. Third St., has pleaded guilty to a state police charge of possession of a controlled substance (marijuana) after two other drug-related charges were withdrawn in a case handled by District Judge Aaron Biichle. The charges stemmed from an incident near Rural Avenue and Elmira Street in the city on Christmas day. Gundrum made arrangements to pay $669 in fines and court costs.
In another case, after the Lycoming County Sheriff's Office dropped charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia against Ralph Thomas, the 68-year-old city man agreed to plead guilty before District Judge William Solomon to possession of a controlled substance (cocaine) and made arrangements to pay $1,000 in fines and court costs. The charges stem from Thomas having cocaine in his possession when sheriff deputies brought him before Solomon for an unrelated criminal matter on March 6, according to an affidavit.
In another plea agreement before Solomon, Jennica Whitesell, 31, of 718 Wilson St., made arrangements to pay $794 in fines and court costs after pleading guilty to a state police charge of possession of marijuana stemming from an incident on Euclid Avenue in DuBoistown on Feb. 21, according to court records. Two other misdemeanors and four summary violations were all withdrawn.
In a case brought before District Judge Christian Frey, Adam Doebler, 35, of Lock Haven, made arrangements to pay $310 in fines and court costs after pleading guilty to a city police misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana that stemmed from an incident in the 600 block of Lycoming Street last July 5. Both a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia and a summary offense were withdrawn.
Concerning another criminal matter, city police have dropped all criminal charges against Tafari Major, 24, of 727 W. Third St., that stemmed from a domestic disturbance with his girlfriend in the 400 block of Glenwood Avenue on Feb. 9, according to court records filed at Biichle's office. Police withdrew charges of strangulation, simple assault and criminal trespassing.
