More drug charges lodged against Old Lycoming Township resident

When South Williamsport police officers spotted the 2007 Subaru Legacy Outback and ran its registration on the night of Dec. 27, he learned there already was an arrest warrant for the SUV's owner, Alex Dejesus, "for dangerous drugs," according to an affidavit filed at the office of District Judge Gary A. Whiteman. The officers stopped the vehicle at East Mountain Avenue and Main Street, and handcuffed Dejesus, one of two occupants in the vehicle. The affidavit did not say if Dejesus, 45, of 19 Roseville Road, Old Lycoming Township, was the driver or passenger. When asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle, Dejesus replied "I wish to have my lawyer present," the affidavit. He was taken into custody and his SUV was impounded. While there was no specific information available Sunday night on the warrant itself, Dejesus has been incarcerated on numerous other offenses, including escape and and a state police charge of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance (a bundle of heroin) that led to the fatal overdose of a 36-year-old mother back in 2019, according to investigators.

Borough police obtained a search warrant for Dejesus' vehicle, and upon executing it the next day, they seized nearly two grams of methamphetamine and a powder substance that was a mixture of fentanyl and xylazine, a tranquilizer drug that depresses the central nervous system. As a result of these drugs being found, Dejesus now faces two additional counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He has waived his preliminary hearing on these latest charges, and although he is free on $5,000 bail in this case, he remains incarcerated in the Lycoming County Prison on other criminal matters.

County prison inmate charged with assault

Federally-indicted drug dealer Victor L. Gibbs, 41, an inmate at the Lycoming County Prison, faces a new pair of charges – aggravated assault and simple assault – for allegedly throwing a chair at a corrections officer inside the prison at 277 W. Third St. about 12:45 a.m. on Feb. 19, according to an affidavit filed at the office of District Judge Aaron Biichle. Gibbs, formerly of Philadelphia, who had a local address of 400 Glenwood Avenue, was charged by a county detective. It was unknown if the chair actually struck the officer. Another corrections officer immediately deployed his taser gun to get Gibbs under control, the detective said. The federal indictment, handed down in February, charges Gibbs of running a methamphetamine and cocaine operation with numerous informants during 2023. Following his preliminary hearing earlier this month, Gibbs was held for court on both assault charges and remains incarcerated in lieu of bail.

Two charged with simple assault charge in separate cases

Having been "drinking and possibly using drugs," Jason Garg, 37, of 1920 Walters Road, pointed a knife at his mother and told her "I'll kill all my family members" during a disturbance at the woman's home on Towncrest Road about 4 a.m. Thursday, city police alleged in an affidavit. The mother managed to get out of the house and call police, the affidavit stated. "Visibly intoxicated and uncooperative," Garg was taken into custody and arraigned before District Judge Denise Dieter on a single count of simple assault. Ruling that there were "no conditions that could be set to keep the public safe," Dieter ordered Garg to the county prison on no bail.

In another case, Joseph Albert Orndorf, 60, of 400 Lycoming St., apartment 313, has been charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment after he too Michael Kamperin to the ground, grabbed him by the neck and "placed him in a headlock" in the 400 block of Lycoming Street about 3:15 p.m. on Oct. 19, city police alleged in a court document filed at the officer of District Judge Christian Frey. He has since waived his preliminary hearing and is free on $5,000 bail.
