At 1 p.m. on Sept. 12, state police stopped 27 year old Carl Wright, of 2026 Sechler Circle, along Main Street, just before Burger King, after they observed a left rear taillight on his 2002 Toyota Camry to be inoperable.
An odor of alcohol was detected from the vehicle, and Wright had glassy, bloodshot eyes, police allege.
He denied having consumed any alcohol, but admitted that he had used marijuana three days prior, court documents said.
He failed a field sobriety test, had a BAC of .10, and lab results were positive for the presence of THC, cocaine, and other controlled substances.
Wright was charged with DUI, two summary offenses, waived his preliminary hearing, and was released on $5,000 bail.
In another case, Christine MacGill was stopped by state police near Edwin and Center streets just before 12:30 a.m. on June 22, after they observed that the registration light on her 2001 Buick LaSabre was inoperable. Additionally, the registration on the vehicle was currently under suspension for having had a lapse in insurance coverage.
A strong odor of alcohol was detected from the vehicle, and McGill had glassy, bloodshot eyes and thick, slurred speech, police allege.
She admitted to having recently consumed alcohol after finishing work at a local establishment, court documents said.
MacGill failed a field sobriety test, and had a BAC of .18.
She was charged with DUI, two summary offenses, waived her preliminary hearing, and was released on $5,000 bail.
In another case, state police stopped 39 year old Ronald Young, of 1548 Mount Carmel St., just before 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 28 near W. Fourth and Park streets, after a routine check of the registration on his 2014 Nissan Altima revealed the registration to have expired in August.
Young had an odor of marijuana, and police observed shake on the passenger side floor and eye drops within the vehicle, court documents said.
Young provided a medical marijuana card, and related that he had smoked marijuana that morning, an affidavit said.
Young failed a field sobriety test, and lab results were positive for the presence of THC.
He was charged with DUI, two summary offenses, waived his preliminary hearing, and was released on $5,000 bail.
In another case, shortly before midnight on Oct. 19, Joseph Linn, 25, of 840 Park Ave., Woolrich, was arrested by state police after his 2006 Saturn Vue struck secondary vehicle, causing it to leave the roadway and strike a gas pump in 1700 block of Route 220 South in Woodward Township.
Linn had a strong odor of alcohol and slurred speech, police allege, and admitted to having consumed alcohol prior to driving.
He failed a field sobriety test, and had a BAC of .10.
Linn was charged with DUI, two summary offenses, waived his preliminary hearing, and was released on $10,000 bail.
In another case, state police stopped Jason Barto, 49, of 4185 Barto Hollow Road, Hughesville, after they clocked his 2020 Kia Sportage traveling at 75 mph in a posted 55 mph zone along I-180 near the Basin Street exit at 1 p.m. on Dec. 17.
Police detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from Barto's vehicle, and noted that he had glossy, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech, according to an affidavit.
Barto admitted to having consumed alcohol prior to driving, beginning around approximately 11 p.m. the previous evening.
He failed a field sobriety test, and had a BAC of .13.
Barto was charged with DUI, three summary offenses, waived his preliminary hearing, and was released on $5,000 bail.
In another case, Lathan Dunn, 23, of Morris, was stopped by state police just before 2:30 a.m. on Sept. 9, after police clocked his 2023 Subaru Outback traveling at 76 mph in a posted 55 mph zone along I-180 near the Basin Street exit.
An open can of alcohol was spotted by police, and Dunn related that it was from "hours ago," but admitted to having consumed three to four beers prior to driving, court documents said.
He had an odor of alcohol and glossy, bloodshot eyes, police allege.
Dunn failed a field sobriety test, and had a BAC of .20.
