Inappropriate contact, forgery among charges lodged in Lycoming County district courts

South Williamsport man charged with inappropriate contact with minor
Robert Briggs II, 27, of 716 Main St., South Williamsport, faces charges after pulling down a juvenile’s bra “for his own sexual gratification” in the borough on July 7, it was alleged in a borough police affidavit. Police also allege that Briggs videoed the incident and posted it online. Following his arraignment before District Judge Gary Whiteman on felony charges of sexual abuse of a child and indecent assault, Briggs was initially jailed in the Lycoming County Prison, but has since been released on $40,000 bail. He waived his preliminary hearing this week.
County prison inmate faces more charges from another police pursuit
South Williamsport police is the latest law enforcement department to file charges against Lycoming County Prison inmate Jason Robert Yahn, who has been jailed since early May 7 when he was involved in a pursuit with city police that ended at Memorial Avenue and Grier Street where he sideswiped a car and crashed into a parked pickup truck. Borough police have charged him with fleeing police as well as three summary offenses, including driving with a suspended license.
The charges stem from an incident on the afternoon of March 29 when Yahn, 42, formerly of the 1100 block of McGill Hollow Road, Linden, was seen operating an all-terrain vehicle along a set of railroad trucks in the 2400 block of Riverside Drive in DuBoistown, police said. Yahn, who is now homeless, was seen riding the unregistered vehicle on nearby Valley Street and Arch Street, police said. When the officer activated his emergency lights and siren on the Arch Street bridge, and attempted to catch up with him, Yahn “looked back at the officer and proceeded to accelerate,” it was stated in an affidavit. Yahn turned west on Hiawatha Boulevard and drove around numerous gates and onto terrain inaccessible to the officer.
Arraigned recently before District Judge William Solomon, Yahn, already jailed as well on several bench warrants, remains behind bars in lieu of an additional $5,000 bail.
Philadelphia man faces felony charges
Following a preliminary hearing Monday, Lawrence Elmore, 36, of Philadelphia, was held for court on felony state police charges of forgery and theft by deception, according to court records at Whiteman’s office.
It is alleged that in early September 2023, Elmore somehow got a hold of a $1,375 check Dill Buttons of America at 50 Choate Circle in Fairfield Township sent to K.C. Larson in Williamsport, it was stated in an affidavit. Elmore not only changed the intended recipient for the check from K.C. Larson to himself, but he also altered the amount of the check to $33,000, police alleged. Elmore remains free on $15,000 bail.
