Montgomery County woman allegedly took daughter from facility illegally

Christina Kathryn Gring, 36, of Pottsville, Montgomery County, faces charges of interfering with the custody of her juvenile daughter after the minor had been placed by court order in a residential treatment center in Clinton Township, state police alleged in an affidavit. The court order was issued on behalf of the county’s Children and Youth Services in Montgomery County, placing the girl in the facility back on July 22, police said. Gring was allowed supervised visits with her daughter, but she was prohibited from having custody of her, police said.

Gring came to the facility on Saegers Station Road on Monday morning to “exchange property” with her daughter outside the facility while a staff member was present, police said. The mother “tapped” the girl, said the minor’s name and told her to ‘go,” police were told. The juvenile willingly got in her mother’s black Mercedes SUV while Gring got behind the wheel and took off, police said.

Gring was arraigned early Tuesday morning before District Judge Christian Frey on a felony charge of interference with the custody of a child plus a misdemeanor charge of interfering in the custody of a person committed to a facility. She was jailed in lieu of $25,000 bail. No information was available Tuesday night from police on where she was arrested or the whereabouts and custody status of her daughter.
