Montgomery man faces assault charge
A Montgomery man has been charged with simple assault and harassment after he allegedly struck a female victim, bloodying her face and knocking her to the ground, court documents said.
After hearing 32-year-old Jesse Michael Smith, of 83 School House Road, Montgomery, yelling at their children, the alleged victim became embroiled in a verbal argument with Smith during which she pushed him as he was walking away, state police said in an affidavit.
Smith allegedly then turned around and hit the alleged victim with an open hand, knocking her to the ground, and causing a laceration to her bottom lip and her face and lip to become swollen, authorities allege in court filings.
Smith was arraigned on the charges by District Judge Aaron Biichle, and remanded to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.
