Motorcyclist injured in crash near Hughesville

HUGHESVILLE – A 64-year-old motorcyclist was recovering from injuries he suffered Thursday afternoon when he slammed into the back of a stopped van on Route 405, state police said.

The cyclist, who is from the Watsontown area, was heading north towards Hughesville when he crashed just before 4 p.m., about two hours before the start of the 9-11 Memorial Ride.

The cyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken by ambulance to UPMC Williamsport. Police did not release his identity, and there was no word on his condition. The van driver, who was waiting for traffic to clear before making a turn, was not hurt, police said.
