Two fires near Lairdsville in as many days
LAIRDSVILLE — When he realized that a fire broke out in his demolition car in the 6600 block of Beaver Lake Road in Penn Township about 6:30 p.m. Friday, the owner quickly jumped in a nearby front-end loader and used the vehicle to push the burning car away from a garage so that the flames would not spread to the structure, according to Lairdsville Fire Chief Wiilliam Gordner. While the car was engulfed in flames when volunteer firefighters arrived on the scene, there was no damage to the building, he said. No one was injured. Firefighters from Hughesville also responded.
Lairdsville firefighters also extinguished a field fire in the 600 block of Tome Road in Moreland Township that consumed about a half an acre just after 4 p.m. Friday, Gordner said. The cause of the fire was ruled accidental, he added. Muncy Area firefighters assisted at the scene.
