Williamsport man charged following eighth incident of driving on suspended license

While traveling along Interstate 180 near Lime Bluff Road in Muncy Creek Township on July 1, 2025, state police queried the registration of a 2019 Dodge Ram and initiated a traffic stop after learning the registration had expired in June 2024.

Upon reviewing the history of the driver, Jason Christopher Helminiak, 54, of 1401 Alvin Ave., police learned that Helminiak’s license was allegedly under current suspension, and had been suspended on seven previous occasions dating back to 2009. Helminiak’s driving history was of such a length that transmitting an electronic copy to police was not possible, they said in an affidavit.

Additionally, the inspection of the vehicle was allegedly found to have expired in July 2024, which Helminiak admitted to being aware of, court documents said.

Helminiak was arraigned on charges of driving on a suspended license – sixth or subsequent offense – penalty enhancement, operating a vehicle with an expired registration, operating a vehicle with an expired inspection and failing to utilize hazard lights during a traffic stop by District Judge Kirsten Gardner, and released on $2,500 bail.

Starting at $2.99/week.
